Project Sketch
Location: Landing Rd. 1, Duxbury, MA
Project File: A long struggle with local zoning boards finally allowed this owner to build this 2300 sq. ft. house on the heavily restricted footprint of the broken down cottage that had previously existed there. The house features an open floor plan with living, dining, and kitchen areas borrowing space from each other, and a generous master suite above with two smaller bedrooms. The house has ocean and marsh views on multiple sides
Designer: Duxborough Designs
Builder: Lee Ripley

Renderings done by Duxborough Designs using digital 3D modeling, enhanced with "Raytrace" technology to produce stunning lifelike visuals. (Standard with all new design development)

The challenge was to design an eclectic house in a shingled cottage style even though we were restricted to a rigid rectangular footprint.

The fact that any deck space would have to be taken from the available footprint required some creative landscaping to create outdoor living space.

The house was raised up out of the flood plain and then surrounded with a stone wall to reduce the visible height of the foundation

Rear of the house has an expansive view of the marsh.

The corner window in the kitchen takes advantage of a view between other houses to the ocean.

The high ceilings and large windows in the master bedroom give a small room a big feel.

A small round window in the stairwell makes all the difference.
